Cooling Tower Treatment
Built by Capture H20
The Problems:
1) Traditional chemical programs use a substantial amount of water, with larger systems using as much as tens of millions of gallons per year.
2) These systems use hazardous chemicals (acids, biocides, etc..) to treat cooling tower water. Because of the nature of the chemicals, they require regular dilution in order to keep the system safe and operational, potentially wasting millions of gallons of water each year.
3) These traditional programs, even when well run, send hazardous chemicals down the drain. This often leads to scale, biofilm, and corrosion throughout the system, which can even birth deadly bacteria (such as legionella).
4) Due to this traditional process, the cost of service and mechanical maintenance can be extremely high. This issue is further compounded by the inability to effectively monitor hazards, leading to unrecognized buildups and increasing the rates of hardware erosion.
The Product:
1 - Water Savings: High Cycle Softening Systems provide substantial water saving by dramatically reducing the need for dilution of the cooling tower water loop. In addition, the dual alternating softeners allow customers to utilize alternate water sources, providing as much as 100% savings on the city water make-up line.
2 – Energy Savings: Approach temperature is the measure of heat transfer insulation formed in chiller tubes created by scale and biofilm. High Cycle Softening creates a passive layer along the chiller tubes which minimizes approach temperatures, adding valuable heat transfer efficiency to the chiller plant.
3 – Continuous Remote Monitoring: Contrary to the “bleed and feed” model, the High Cycle program includes 24/7 monitoring of key water usage and chemistry metrics, ensuring that the system is never far from its targeted levels. The result is world-class scale, corrosion, and bacteria control.
4 – Safety & Environment: Removing hazardous chemicals from the process takes large amounts of acids and biocides out of the maintenance process and out of the drain, helping both the safety of the facility team and eliminating water concentrated with hazardous chemicals from being sent down the drain.
The Competitive Advantage:
World class scale, corrosion, and bacteria controls is available through a system that also maximizes both energy and water savings, providing an exceptional alternative to traditional water treatment methods.
